Roag Best is rock'n'roll royalty. Brother of Beatles' drummer Pete Best (Aug. 1960-Aug. 1962) and co-owner of The Casbah Club where The Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Pete Best...later Ringo Starr) got their start, Best has told the story of the early days of The Beatles in his book, The Beatles: The True Beginnings. With color photos of The Casbah and the early band, Best traces the authentic roots of the band the shook the world.
Also, as son of Liverpool music entrepreneur and part-time manager of The Beatles (1961), Mona Best, Roag has acquired a huge collection of Beatles suits, guitars, and priceless artifacts which fill his new Beatles Magical Museum in Mathew Street Liverpool. On this program, Roag gives listeners a guided tour of each floor in this exciting new repository of music history and sets aright some of the myths about The Beatles.
He also talks candidly about his father, Apple CEO and lifelong friend of The Beatles, Neil Aspinall. Roag discusses the eight-year relationship Aspinall had with Mona Best and their great affection for one another. It is a true and touching story, rarely discussed.
Join author Lanea Stagg of The Recipe Records Series and Jude Southerland Kessler of The John Lennon Series as they sit down with Roag Best to talk about The Casbah Club, the Hamburg days, the events of 1960-61, and the outbreak of Beatlemania (with early bass player, Chas Newby)...and about Best's new Magical Beatles Museum which brings the story to life!
